In Grace I Stand
You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. - 2 Timothy 2.1
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the gift of righteousnessFirst, and foremost, it is the power of God for salvation.
If there was just 1 other way, then the gospel would not be "the" power of God, but "a" power of God. Romans 1.16, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes..." So the power, this specific, life-altering and eternity-changing power is for something! It is for the salvation of lost, broken, unbelieving people (& its power is for believing people too). It is common for a man or a woman to think that they are not in need of being "saved". Regardless, God has revealed that all have sinned (Romans 3.23) and that by one's sin, each has earned death (Romans 6.23). If we want to live now and live with Him in eternity, we must trust in Jesus. Many refer to this as being "saved"; "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven...by which we must be saved" (Acts 4.12). The greatest news one could ever hope to hear is that salvation is on the basis of whom one believes in, NOT because of action(s) that one does. Salvation is available to all and is real for all who believe. |
